U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) Wind Energy Technologies Office (WETO)

BCS Allegient developed an interactive animation to help non-technical audiences learn how wind turbines operate. Instead of text or a static image, this graphic allows users to learn about individual components of a wind turbine by “taking a look inside” the equipment through visual aids like information bubbles. Built using Adobe Flash, we constructed two views for the image: one that shows how wind can turn blades around the rotor on a wind turbine and another that demonstrates how energy from a wind farm travels to the end user. This animation is prominently displayed on WETO’s website home page, and it consistently ranks as one of WETO’s most popular web pages every year. Given its popularity, our team also created a mobile version of the animation to allow site visitors to have the same experience when on the page, regardless of which device they use.

U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) Bioenergy Technologies Office (BETO)

BCS Allegient supported BETO in developing a strategic plan with a vision for 2040. The effort was a multistage, iterative endeavor that incorporated inputs from stakeholders from industry, academia, nongovernmental organizations, and other federal agencies, as well as the office’s findings since it last published a strategic plan roughly 20 years ago. BCS Allegient assisted BETO in managing the overall planning effort to develop a shared understanding of current challenges, identify opportunities for the future, and foster a shared sense of purpose. To achieve these goals, the BCS team planned, organized, and executed focus group meetings to identify, review, and evaluate market, policy, and other drivers that affect BETO’s activities and efforts. We also facilitated a “visioning” meeting with BETO staff, national laboratory representatives, and other industry stakeholders to craft BETO’s vision for 2040, based on reports from the focus group meetings and dedicated plenary and breakout sessions.

Mission Execution Services

BCS Allegient provides life-cycle programmatic support to help federal clients successfully execute their missions. We provide a full range of business management services including budget planning, monitoring and execution, and financial controls. These outreach activities help decision-makers understand the importance of investing in energy technologies and communicate the results of those investments to stakeholders and the public. BCS Allegient supports programs with analytics at all stages of the R&D life cycle. We develop digital solutions to support federal clients’ planning and investments. We design cloud-based solutions for data management and visualization, create manager-friendly dashboards that summarize data feeds from multiple sources. Office of Naval Research (ONR)

BCS Allegient provides executive-level support to key leaders at the Office of Naval Research (ONR), an Echelon I command supported by approximately 4000 government civilians, military personnel, and support contractors. We directly engage with command leadership and SES department heads to execute program objectives, implement policies, define process improvement initiatives, and track financial transactions that support Naval Science & Technology (S&T) investments across the Naval Research Enterprise.
